IVÁN LÓPEZ RUIZ-LABRANDERAS
I am a planetary geologist interested in the geologic evolution of the terrestrial planets, specially in the relationship between volcanism and tectonics and the use of remote sensing in the geological mapping of planetary surfaces. I obtained my BSc in Geology from the Complutense University of Madrid and Doctorate at the Rey Juan Carlos Univerisity. I have participated in over 13 research projects, some of them international research projects funded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) with the role of International Co-Principal Investigator to carry out geologic mapping of Venus. Current research include the study of recent volcano-tectonic activity on Venus and the location of target sites for in-situ and orbital seismological studies, the relationship between cryopetrology and tectonic modification on the surface of icy satellites, and the study of the geologic context for the ESA’s ExoMars 2022 mission to Mars.
